Ken Woods Road Race: This Saturday!

Race Flier Here!

The first MWCMR Series Race is coming up this weekend. Don't miss Ken Woods
Memorial Road Race on Saturday the 26th in Cannon Falls, MN. It's an early one!
The Cat 4 women's race starts at 9am. Registration opens at 7:30am and closes at 8:
45am. You'll want to get there with plenty of time to register and warm up. You can
either buy a day license to race or purchase the annual license for $60. If you plan to
do at least 6 races this year, you're better off buying the annual license.

The race is 21 miles long, so you'll so one loop of the course.

If you need a ride, hop on over to the MCF Message Board. www.mcf.net There's
even a Women's section so you can post thoughts or feedback about the races.

Race Day Tips:

  • Eat a hearty, carb-heavy breakfast three hours before your race.
  • Stay hydrated in the morning.
  • Eat a gel or bar at least a half hour before the race.
  • Get in a good warm-up.
  • Cool down afterward and talk with the others in the race about how it went.
  • Have fun!

Opus Clinic & Weather

The clinic tomorrow is on unless it's actually snowing or there is snow on the road.
Cold is one thing, but snow will make things unsafe and we'll cancel. Alix will post on
the
MCF thread Saturday AM if we cancel.

Otherwise we're on for the clinic at 10am Saturday. We'll see you at 5800 Smetana
Drive, Hopkins MN Southeast Corner of Parking Lot.

Next Up: Opus Beginning Clinic!

There was a great turnout at last night's clinic, with 30 future racers along with some
seasoned folks who added advice and support. Presenters Barb, Sherry and Teresa
were wonderful and shared their insights from a combined, what...45 years of racing.
Thanks also to our clinic coordinator, Alix. We're lucky to have such experienced
racers in our community and that they're willing to take time to talk about racing to
the newbies.

It was wonderful to have so many new women come out and they all seemed very
excited about racing!

Next up is the
Opus Clinic this Saturday--details below!

Congrats to Adele Gorrilla, winner of Ken
Woods Road Race and our current series
leader!

The weather on Saturday was tough, but the women who finished Ken Woods were
tougher! Congrats to all our fierce finishers! Above is race winner Adele Gorrilla and
2nd place finisher Nicole Waxmonski. Great job!

As our race leader, Adele will be wearing the leader's jersey in the next MWCMR
event, Gluek Road Race. See the
calendar for more information on the series -- we
hope to see you there!

Way to go, Jacki!

Jacki Carlson of Silver Cycling pulled off the win at last Saturday's Gluek Road Race.
Patti Koehler of Birchwood was second, and Adele Gorrilla maintains her lead in the
series point standings with her third place finish (and retains the jersey). 14 cat 4
women, representing 10 different teams, fought strong winds to complete this 36 mile
race. Excellent work by all!

Next up in the series is the race against the clock at Saturday's
time trial. See ya
there!
